Well, they didn't fix the share itself so much as they altered the EXP system as a whole to make it work better.

Which in the end was just reverting back to the system from the gen immediately prior to its introduction.

Gen 5 exp formula helped balance it but it's still a broken mess of a concept.

Playing with it off, heading to second island and greatly enjoying the game, it's ridiculously better than XY

I played with it the entire game and my Pokemon are only 4~ levels higher than the wild Pokemon, on-par with the trainers and slightly underlevled for the Totems.

I've fought everything I could. The totem Lurantis was near unbeatable with my team of Bronnie, A-Ratticate, and Chargabug and I had to catch and grind a Salandit in order to beat it.

That was the first time I struggled with anything Pokemon related since Gen 3.

Yeah the Totem fights are actually a decent challenge.

Gen 6 didn't have a single battle worth noting except maybe post-game.

I literally had to manipulate the AI because there's 0 places to grind in that area. My highest level was Brionne and it was still 2 levels under it.

See, I would call that over-leveled. I've always found that the game only starts to get kind of tricky when trainers have ~10 levels on you. I was kind of worried because the scaled exp system is really biased against that kind of gap.

Hopefully the totems are as interesting as you guys say they are.

Just as I was about to knock School Form Wishiwashi into it's shitty form, a fucking Alomomola was summoned and heal pulsed it.

My strongest attack against it was rain boosted Water Gun because my Grubbin was getting OHKO'd. I didn't lose but fuck did it take a while.

Geez, I have it on, but since I'm nuzlocking it as blind as I can, that evens out. second island, only lost Alolattata because of wild Vullaby delivering a 5-hit fury attack with 2 crits. Not that I'm crying, it had hustle

No. You can't be more wrong. Cheating on single player and cheating in multiplayer are two different things. Nobody cares if you hack to have a different starter or something because you're not going up against anybody in the main game. But when you battle other people who don't hack, you're cheating to give yourself an advantage.
