Couple hours in Moon and none of the characters will leave me the fuck alone. Can't get 5 minutes in without someone stopping you over some minor shit.

They took railroading and made it WORSE than in Gen 6.

Who thought this shit was okay and when the fuck does it end?

For some reason Nintendo has decided that every fucking game needs to baby you through the first fucking half of it (or more). This ruined Mario & Luigi Dream Team for me.
I mean come the fuck on, it's not like any of us needed this degree of handholding when were were little shits playing the games for the first time.

Is it worse than BW2? That one was the absolute worst in terms of NPCs coming to stop you and that 10 minute long forced Pokestar Studios tutorial at the beginning was fucking awful

First hour or so there's literally a cutscene every 30 seconds. It's literally "here's a single linear path, go to the end of the small path and watch a cuscene with a few lines of dialogue. Rinse and repeat until the first trial.
It isn't as bad once you progress a bit in the game though.

It's a common thing, people demanded more involved story and you can't do that if you let them free roam like in Gen1-2.

You can if you're a competent dev. There are plenty of open-world games that have great stories. Pokemon doesn't have to be completely open-world, but encouraging exploration would be nice in a game like Pokemon.
S&M are so linear that everyone will basically have the exact same experience playing through it. IMO the opposite is what made old Pokemon great. Playing S&M kinda feels like watching a mediocre Pokemon movie at times.

Oh yes, I totally agree. I prefer getting lost.
It'd be pretty nice to have a completely open environment and instead of fixed gym order, have gyms change setups based on your level, even if it's lv.100. But oh well, I don't think we'll ever get that satisfaction.

I specifically said "Pokemon doesn't have to be completely open-world". Skyrim scale open world wouldn't work well for Pokemon or at least I don't think so, but it would be nice to have more than one linear path between towns.

The first 4 generations did that pretty well I think. BW started the trend of Pokemon games being ultra linear. BW2 was better but they dived right back in with XY and it doesn't seem like they have any intention of surfacing anytime soon.

I've been shitposting about how bad handholding is for the last hour and a half. I'm pretty sure I would have seen someone dumb enough to think that these goddamn cutscenes are fine.

It's almost as bad as the intro to MGS:V.
