Can you use a z move/crystal with a same type status move? (For example Salamence + Tailwind) and if so, would it be a weaker move in terms of power?

Depends on the move. I tried using Waterium Z with Aqua Ring but it had the same effect as a normal Aqua Ring. There is some joke shit like Splash giving you +3 attack, and some other moves fill your health completely, but I forgot which ones.
