On top of that, Guzmom's "I'm sure my boy didn't do anything bad" attitude implies a woman not willing to acknowledge negative things happening in front of her...like a husband whose discipline might be a little overly physical.
I generally don't try to inject these kinds of headcanons but I honestly think it's the most logical conclusion. Guzma's whole "desperate for respect from adults" thing doesn't jive with an idyllic home life, anyway.
