And even then, they could have made more varied clothing with everything being summer clothes. XY had varied clothes even though most of it looked to belong in the same temperate climate.
I've seen people use the tropical region and the younger protagonists to justify lack of variety, but the truth is that Gamefreak just got lazy and slapped on this customization feature because people whined, not because they wanted to create cool things for it like in XY. That, or they simply think everyone living in the tropics dresses the same.
