I agree this guy will be great, but won't it be hard to actually get Shields Down to activate? I'm not really a competitive player, but I feel like it'll be hard to get the opponent to hit you into the proper health range

In fact, in Gen 7 just about everything that evolves is worse as a whole than the single stages. Ribombee, Toxapex, Silvally-Fa, Solgaleo, and maybe Shiinotic are the only good ones.

If you send it out to something that doesn't have a chance of OHKO or activating Shields Down with an attack, then you can still Shell Smash+White Herb right away to get the offensive boosts. After that you can just either force a Shields Down with something like Substitute or go on the full offensive with Acrobatics. If you're worried about them getting you to around 60% and then using a strong enough attack to knock you out before you can go for a Shields Down, you could probably U-Turn out of there or just risk an Explosion. It takes careful planning to get your health just low enough to activate Shields Down and for the enemy to try and keep your health high enough to NOT activate Shields Down before going in for the KO.

Yeah, that all makes sense. Thanks. It does seem like running sub will be kinda necessary to actually activate Shields Down with any regularity, but I really gotta do the calcs to see what the difference is between Shell smash with 60 base as opposed to 100 base attack and all that
