How do I get to the upper part of Route 5? The rocky part above the Pokemon Center. I just cleared the water trial and the guy at the start of Route 5 still says there's trainers to defeat

I might have missed a week or two but i remember there was some talk about building gyms or whatever in post game. There were some people questioning it and a bunch of autists screaming that it was basically confirmed and advertised

If anyone is wondering how you get the Eevee Z crystal there is a side quest in the post game where a guy in the thrifty mart tells you to go seek out his 8 friends (all using an eeveelution each) and he gives hints as to where they are
pretty neat and drepressing side quest actually

So far I've only been able to find them/have Samson Oak give me one. There are three on Mount Hokulani including the Heavy and Friend Balls. You have to actually run down the mountain instead of taking the bus.

If you give an enemy trainer a turn or two to set up, they can be kind of annoying. Totem Pokemon can give you a run for your money if you don't know what's coming. It's entirely possible though, for one of your team members to coincidentally end up being a perfect counter.

e.g. Alolan Marowak w/ Lightning Rod made the Vikavolt Totem a joke

Good luck and have fun. I decided to use Exp. Share and PokeRefresh on my first playthrough. Because of my team comp, Affection rng was the only way I could beat the sixth Totem Pokemon first try despite being like five levels higher.

You have to catch like 60 box pokemon and upgrade the islands. Just catch whatever you see and box it so you can actually EV train properly in the post game

These totem Pokemon seem pretty tough now, do you guys normally just ignore the totem's allies and just focus the totem down? Is there a max amount of other Pokemon totems can summon?

It depends on your team composition. You can cheese it to a certain degree. For example, I had a Charjabug with a positive ATK nature that I had been using as my main mon (I mistakenly thought that Vikavolt was good) and it beat the shit out of Totem Wishiwashi. I caught a Wishiwashi and it oneshot the Totem Sandazzle because Wishiwashi is strong enough to solo the rest of the game.

Lurantis died to Bug Bite quickly, but I did focus the additional pokemon.

However, I remember losing a few pokemon to SPOILER UB-01, which also gets the totem boost because holy shit those STABs.

If you're looking for a challenge, I think that if you didn't use the EXP share, it'll be a tough gen.

i think they can only summon 2 allies at once.If you're fighting Lurantis,i suggest taking the Castform down first,it will set up sunny Day if you don't and the fight suddenly becomes much more difficult due to Lurantis raping your ass with Solar Blade.Same for Wishiwashi,if you don't take out the Alolomolas,they will heal wishiwashi/Use Helping hand on him.Also wathch out for Charjabugs in the Vikavolt fight,with battery,Vikavolt becomes really scary.Don't know about other totems.

From what I've played so far, it's much better than XY and ORAS. If you see the EXP Share as an optional EZ mode, then I think it's pretty good.

The Ride pokemon are fresh and by far superior to HMs. Having Z-Crystal users on every route that can be unlocked by beating all the trainers is a fun bit of extra challenge. Since they give you (and use) items like RED CARD, it's fun to unlock them and battle with them.

The silly little minigames like Sea Cucumber throwing and finding babby bears is an entertaining way of making money and really helps to bring the region to life. It feels less video-gamey than the other iterations of Pokemon.

My only gripe is 2-3 pokemon syndrome on trainers.

How does the EV-boosting juice bar works and how early or accessible it is on the game? Can you buy all sorts of drinks from the get go provided you have the cash or do you need to wait to progress into the game far a bit to unlock some drinks?

I heard that Pokepelago's way of EV training is a painfully slow process and you need Charizard to access it.

Is the level scaling done the same way as XY and ORAS where using the exp share makes you overleveled unless you keep turning it on and off to not get underlevelled or use a rotating team of pokemon? Do you become underleveled if you use more than six pokemon and the exp share?

Scanning 10 codes lets you scan the island for anomalous pokemon, letting you find mons not in the regional pokedex.

Heard that they'll always be Alolan. Pic related is a sign on Melemele Island south of Kukui's Lab. Use Sharpedo Jet to get to it.

Like the other anon, it's just a "Seen" entry, the Pokedex lets you see the habitat list for seen pokemon.

I just went to the Recycling Plant on Ula'Ula and the bald guy mentioned that Smug style is from someone always trying to act cool. Passionate is from 50 Win streak at the Battle Tree, and Idol style is from "being able to stand above all others in Battle Royal".

I've been walking around the festival plaza for at least an hour now, trying to lvl it up. In my inventory is a egg and it hasn't hatched yet. So I doubt it counts

I changed my clock to match Daylight Savings time and I saw a noticeable change from sunset to daytime.

However, I ended up losing access to my Festival Plaza Facilities for a while because the game seems coded to detect kids trying to skip ahead to the good stuff.

If you don't like the 12 hour difference in Moon, then I suggest you either try again or just get Sun if you can find it.
