When I played the demo on my old 3DS XL and saw how badly it lagged, I had two choices:
1. Accept that it would lag like molasses in every Totem battle
2. Replace my Old 3DS.
Mine was starting to fall apart anyway so I bought a New 3DS. Of course, not everyone needs to do this, but there's no point bitching about it when it was painfully obvious it would be this way beforehand.
Also, Pokemon S/M isn't the only game that gets less than optimal performance on the Old 3DS at some points. A bunch of newer titles are like this and some even require the New 3DS to even run. People knew the terms beforehand and still whine harder than anyone before even spending any money.
