It's in the same vein as Unova and Kalos so you can challenge the E4 in whatever order you like.
First time you fight Kukui at the end.
Afterwards it's random, who you fight at the end.

Being champion is now something real. The first time you beat the elite 4 you take the throne as Alola's champion and Kukui is your first Challenger. Every time you beat the Elite 4 afterwards a new challenger will come in to try to be champion. It's like Punch Out Wii's Mac's Last Stand. I dunno if they become champ if you lose and you have to get the title back, I haven't lost yet.

Is their a postgame fight with Kiawe,Lana,or Mallow aside from the Battle Tree? The pastebin suggest they only have main game fights but it seems it's incomplete with Captain slots that aren't filled with anything.

haven't played the game yet, so would someone mind explaining who Faba, Ryuki, and Molayne are? I know the others, but hadn't heard those three names before. Are they important NPC's or just examples of random trainer classes?

Also if they aren't also random trainers, why is some random Youngster the only non-important challenger?

Ryuki is some kid dressed as a dragon. His team is also a monodragon.

Molayne is Sophocles mentor and the old steel kahuna. It's Kukui's friend too.

Thanks a lot man. It is cool that they have some Champion-tier characters with specialized teams to add them in. So if I read it correctly, Ryuki has a Dragon team and Molayne is Steel? If combined with the other TC's, Kahunas, and E4's, that only leaves Normal, Bug, Psychic, and Poison as the only types that don't have a major specialist in the game. Still better than most gens.

The data was only for Moon, though, so could Sun have a postgame rematch against Sina instead?

It's just weird to battle Dexio two times, but Sina only once. Especially considering she's the only Ice-type specialist in the game and Dexio shares the Psychic-type with Faba.

You know what? I find it really stupid how the Alola trainers don't use a mega evolution- Sure, they have the Z-crystal in their signature pokemon, but it would be a better challenge if they also had a mega.

Wait what? You have to beat the E4 every time you want to accept a new challenger? That's lame. I assumed it would be something like you'd get a notification that you have a challenger, then you just go to the pokemon league and fight them directly. Why would you have to beat the E4 again as champion?

Would be fun to get some rewards for that too. Increasing your reputation by defeating challengers, unlocking some Champion related clothing etc.
And if you refuse too many challenges you eventually lose your title.

Acerola and Kahili to a degree mention something about it. Acerola basically says that the champ must always prove that they are still stronger than the e4. Both of them also want to beat you and take the title for themselves.
