You'd probably want to catch pokemon at each screen transition instead of per route. Is doable, just need to play towards a type advantage to get through a totem without killing anyone.

You're going to get fucked at Island 2 unless you catch yourself a grubbin, keep it alive and make it Charja for the Wishiwashi, then catch a Wishiwashi and win against the fire totem, then do the same for the grass totem.

Otherwise they'll murder you.
