Wait I just used it against a spearow and it was able to use a move after. I'm really fucking confused now. A trainer's Psyduck with Water Gun at level 12 should have 4 moves but it had to struggle. I really, really don't think trainers have Choice items.

Before you Drum. It basically guarantees you the belly drum even if you have 1HP left. It heals you BEFORE you drum, not after.

Next trainer, after it didn't work on a wild Spearow. Petilil at 13 should have Growth, Leech Seed, Sleep Powder and Mega Drain. I saw it use 2 different moves before this.

I'm gonna save before the next trainer and experiment more.

Would have been Just Switch Out LMAO: The Move anyway. You'd burn your Z-move for no real gain 90% of the time. And the potential payoff is 1 killed Pokemon... like the payoff for every attacking Z-move anyway.

In the ultra, ultra-niche situation where you want to just switch using your Pokemon's speed yet you have significant negative stat buffs on you. The Pokemon would already be holding the Z-item for its actual buff move that it failed to get off, and thus has the option to use it on Baton Pass as a side effect.

Yeah, if it means you have to use a moveslot on goddamn disable and use your only Z-crystal and only usage of a Z-crystal on it.

If they're going to give a competitively viable reason for splash to be used, why not disable? Give all these shitty situational moves literally nobody will ever use a chance to shine, like what they did for megas.

Honestly more realistically the Z-move wouldn't actually disable for 4 turns. But realistically, you should be able to knock out a smeargle holding no item within 2 turns of it doing nothing to you.
