This also works with genderless pokemon + ditto, but keep in mind that ditto never passes its ball, and that you need to be able to catch the genderless pokemon in the wild so there are still lots of illegitimate combinations.

my issue is more that you can only use it on a finite amount of pokemon, otherwise you're forced to cheat in mons with the ball to breed
i feel like they just WANT everyone to cheat their top tier mons now, what with all the inconveniences they're putting in the way of people who breed for their mons

It cannot breed with females in its egg group, only Ditto. It can pass down a ball when bred with Ditto, but you can't catch a Porygon in SM. The only Porygon available is a gift.
