As long as you don't let the summoner run out of PP and don't paralyse it, it will call for reinforcements. When it's out of PP you KO it and leave another reinforcement from the same family alive, and it continues.
Adrenaline Orbs are a consumable that make it work more often.
After about 100 reinforcements people typically report starting to find shinies.
