Anyone remember when the first pokemon movie came out, and burger king had these? Along with a plethora of other toys?

Long ago, when I was still living NJ, I had an uncle who got so shitfaced one time, he was carrying around one of these, throwing it at random ass people in his apartment building in the halls, trying to "capture" them.

Yeah I remember these. I had the glowing Raichu one and my brother got the Oddish.

I also remember the Pokemon 2000 Burger King toys and I wanted the Charmander but I got the shitty Golduck

I traded a Dark Blastoise card for the Togepi one but never got the pokeball to keep it in, and my mother took it from me because she thought I stole it. I don't know what she did with it but I never saw it again.

I also had the Geodude keychain, Poliwag water squirter and Chaney top in OP's image and a Bulbasaur pencil sharpener that looked like the Bulbasaur in the image, a little Raichu toy that came in a small pokeball keychain and still have a Squirtle Christmas ornament that I hang on the tree every year.

Man back in Gen 1, the weirdest monsters got mainstream merch. I feel that's one thing the modern stuff misses and you get stuff of the same marketing department assigned monsters over and over now.

Used to have an Electabuzz one of these.

I also had the Pokemon version of Monopoly back in 1999/2000. God, I love Pokemon so much, but I wish it could be better. I haven't even played SM yet, but everything I've heard about it worries me.

I was a little kid back then so I remember jack shit, but did plastic capsule things just not have holes in them until the big recall? I can't think of anything outside of those shitty vending machine toys using capsules like that, at least not in the US.

Yeah, 13-month-old died, then an 18-month-old got one stuck on their face but their parents noticed in time.

Can't find anything about if similar things started having holes made in them because of this or not, maybe someone who wasn't 7 at the time would remember if there were typically holes or not before this.
