I love how there are some brown Pokemon characters that often get called niggers, and some brown pokemon characters that often will get refered to as black, only for some other anon to say "she's not a nigger, kill yourself".

What factors cause this? The popularity of the brown-skinned character in question?

Skin tone does a lot. You see, black people have kind of a dusky brown complexion, while anyone else has more red/yellow in it. Also generally less dark.

Region also helps. Unova, for example, most dark brown characters can decisively be called black. Nothing else is common in that area. However in Alola? Most are going to be Polynesians, with only the darkest like Olivia and Kiawe being comfortably called black.

Anime Iris was a great character, with a big ego, sassy personality, and deep background.

But the real problem is that this not work for a main girl character, she was perfect for a rival or antagonist. Trip was really boring, in change Iris interaction with Ash was really funny and dinamic.

Also a "real" Dragon Team could be cool.

I ain't a shipper, but Iris has always been the only lead female who I could realistically see getting together with Ash. She's the only one who could really match his enthusiasm for Pokemon, and that's really the only language Ash speaks.

Why do people always try to tack a real world race or ethnicity and its shitty stereotypes on Pokemon characters? We don't know if places like Africa and Europe truly exist in the Pokemon world. Pokedex entries mention South America and India, but they're, well, Pokedex entries. The existence of real world locales and, by extension, ethnicities, remain extremely dubious. And there is no excuse for injecting real world racial stereotypes into Pokemon. At all. It's annoying.
