It's not, it never interrupts you aside one cutscene and everytime you step on a new island for the first time. And even then you only spend like 20 seconds.

In fact it's surprisingly non-invasive since it basically talks on the bottom screen for a few seconds after a cutscene plays but you can just ignore it since it doesn't stop the game. Even if you hate it for some reason you won't be bothered by it.

I don't think it'll be funny on following playthroughs, but I like its dialogue.

Also, unless you reset his speech bubble with X it goes away in no more than 2 seconds.

My guess is that it's the new Fi.
For some reason after Skyward Sword nintendo games have felt the need to add one in every game, despite how poorly she was recieved.
