Yeah the guy probably made a list of mons that he can remember from 1996 and then scrolled though pokemon list and choose one from every gen so no one gets offended. I mean he included Magikarp and Gyarados, Charmander and Charizard, and Eevee and Vaporeon. Not to mention that every pokemon description is one line long and usually reffers to pokemon go or hot memez. And he probably got paid for it, too. This wouldn't piss me off that much if it weren't for a fact that it's a popular site and normies that know pokemon that are only included in pokemon go would pat themselves on the back because they have a 'good taste' for liking shit like Charizard

I would base it on how much Game Freak cares about a pokemon, how prevalent it is in the game (for example the genies would get a place despite not being very popular) how much it appears in other games in the anime and promotional art.
My top five would be:
Pikachu
Charizard
Lucario
Mewtwo
Greninja
Simply because they have an enormous fanbase and they are literally everywhere.

If they wanted to make this list the slightest bit convincing they could've at least went 50/50 with half being Gen I Pokemon and the rest being from other Gens.

Cut out Rapidash, Dragonite, Magikarp, Lapras, Vaporeon, and Squirtle.

Add Umbreon, Rayquaza, Piplup, Zoroark, and Sylveon.

Honestly, if we're going by "Important" I'd put Klefki and Vanilluxe line. Think about it. These pokemon are often the most hated but people won't shut up about them. Their adversity makes them more prominent than a shitmon like [insert Johtomon] or a literally who like [insert another Johtomon]
