Hala is named after a tree that's associated with coconut crabs along with coconut palms.
Kiawe is fairly obvious.
Guzma's golisopod fits him fairly well. 3 of his other mons have something to do with false eye spots. Team skull trickery and all that.
On a broader scale, Plumeria's have poisonous milky sap, and Plumeria specializes in poison types.

Guzmania plants are also habitat for some species of Insects, so that's why our boi is a Bug-type Trainer
