Stealth rocks are balanced
Without them flying spam would be even worse
They're part of the game because gen 3 showed a huge bias towards flying types
Even now, with stealth rocks, many flying types are very influential

Imagine the genies with no fear of rocks

But that's the point. Without touching the subject of the rng's role in pokemon, they are supposed to be matchup based. There are fucking 800+ pokemon now, and at the very very best 50 are seen in major vgc events. Usually a lot less.
