So I beat Sun and caught the ultra beasts, beat the Battle Tower etc. While it picked up towards the end, ultimately I really hated it. Especially the first 15 hours.
Yet all I see here are people saying how much better it was than X and Y, and how X and Y are shit. But I remembered really liking X, and that the pacing was good, the world was good. Way better than Sun.
So I went back and used freeshop to get Y (I have X) and played the first half hour to see how it compared to Sun's opening. And holy shit, I was right. X is far superior in every respect so far.
Within the first half hour of X, I had
>got my pokemon
>got through the tiny amount of story that gets out of the way quickly
>caught a team of 6; mostly new gen 6 mons
>battled 10 trainers
>made it through santalune forest (which is as complicated as ANY dungeon / forest in Sun)
>reached Santalune
>was in the awesome Bug gym with the cool net mechanic (an effort at doing something new unequaled in Sun)
At this point in Sun, I reckon I was still being lectured by Hala or Lillie or some shit. And it continued all game.
Not only that, but there's 3D (personally love the 3D effect), the framerate is miles better on an o3DS despite the 3D being enabled, there's way more pokemon variety in the tall grass, the colours are brighter and visuals crispers, the grid system and chibi visuals mean there's way less running around wasted space... I could go on.
Not only that, but it introduced the amazing 3D models for all the pokemon - a massive effort that is unmatched by any single feature in Sun/Moon. It had a ton of awesome new quality of life features like O-Powers and better breeding systems, and a really good online system.
So basically...
Why the fuck are these games hated? Why the fuck do people think shitty Sun/Moon is better than this?
Not trying to troll, just being perfectly honest. Would like to hear an honest response from someone who has beaten and liked Sun / Moon.
