>>29951127>The only time we've ever had a regional dex that made sure to make the new Pokemon more likely to encounter opposed to the old ones was Gen 5Game Freak need to find a balance. There's absolutely no reason they couldn't make a generation with, say, 130 new Pokemon and 100 returning Pokemon in the dex for a total of 230 in the regional dex. This would provide a pretty damn good balance of old Pokemon fanwank and new Pokemon discovery. The only reason they haven't done this is because they're lazy as fuck with the models in the new games and they're scared of hitting the big 1000 too early.
Hoenn was the closest to getting it right, I think. It had a diverse cast of new Pokemon but it didn't try to sweep the old ones under the rug like Gen 5 did. I wish Nintendo could go back to that, and make Pokedexes that are two-thirds new and one-third old.
