Unlock it by doing something in Battle Tree (someone said something about choosing the hardest difficulty 5 times in a row or something?)
To actually choose your pose you go north of the first city on the third island, someone in that area will let you change it

Kommo-o you won't get until very close to the end. Basically not available until all trials are finished. Vikavolt won't evolve until the area just before that as well. Coldsteel and Koala are third island, other two are first and second so you will have them the entire time.

Do you only battle Red, Blue, Cynthia, etc in the battle tree in a Maison/frontier setting, or do you battle them elsewhere?

I've seen people say Red gives out the Kanto starter Mega Stones, as well as seeing a trailer where he had 6 pokemon.

When you first enter the battle tree you have a choice between fighting either Red or Blue in a single battle.
Afterward you find them in the battle tree (Red and Blue being the leaders) and defeating them for the first time has them be by the receptionist and hand you the mega stones.

I'm using him and he's fine as far as I can see, as long as someone doesn't have Earthquake coverage. His Ice attacks are generally pretty shit unfortunately, he only gets one physical without Move Relearner. Also Blizzard but his SpeA is abysmal.

if you bought the game on the 18th via the eshop normally rather than preloading would you be able to play right away?

i just beat the first trial. i have a couple questions for when i get farther in the game

since i am battling a lot of pokemon they are getting EVs i dont want, will there be a way to erase them all and train them like in x/y?

does pokemon refresh ever get upgraded with mini games? seems like a step down from x/y.

There's no Super Training. You can erase EVs with berries and Festival Plaza drinks.
No minigames. At least it can heal status for free after battle I guess.

Male Pokemon pass their balls when bred with a ditto. Balltism will be easier to make but shitty balls will be harder to shake. Personal example, I caught a Chansey in a dusk ball and made my competive Chansey/Blissily from it, however since Chansey is a female only line, they all had the dusk ball. Eventually I got sick of it and breed love ball versions from scratch.

Male father in great ball.
Female in Ultra.
2 out of the 12 eggs are great while the other ten are ultra.
Does this mean we can get mons from outside of alola with HA in pretty balls? As long as we have a male with a pretty ball and a female with ha, we'll manage right?

Breeding with a perfect ditto is a million times faster and HT doesn't improve the I.V, it just sets a flag to raise the stats so it doesn't make future breeding any easier.

For those curious, if true this means the following are now legal:

>pokémon in sport and safari balls with hidden abilities
>pokémon that can't be ally chained in apricorn balls with hidden abilities
>non-alolan pokémon found with the qr scanner in beast balls with hidden abilities

Of course single-gender and genderless Pokémon still get cucked out of their HAs with HGSS balls but at least the ones found in the wild can be bred with other balls now. It's not perfect but it's a step in the right direction.

no, because you have to catch the box legendary to progress the story, and beast balls are only obtainable in the post-game

Vulpix and Sandshrew can be found in that patch of grass besides the Pokemon center at the foot of the mountain, meaning it can be gotten much earlier than the E4

It seemed pretty low. Found 4 of them in the wild and all had limber. I ended up just catching a limber one and breeding it until I got merciless. Took like 30 eggs to get 5 merciless, but that probably has more to do with breeding mechanics than anything

I didn't raise a mudbray. Only saw my younger brother's mudsdale when we had a battle.

Bounsweet and steenee aren't great, but they should be good enough to progress with. Make sure you get a bounsweet with oblivious so tsareena can get her signature ability

So, yesterday I accidentally deleted my save, right before taking on the elite 4.

After trying and failing to find a save that was around the same place, I resolved to just recreate my old team with PKHex and speedrun my way back to where I was.

In the end, I managed to make it from the start of the game to the elite 4 in 6 hours and 7 minutes. Flying through the game at that speed was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had playing a game.

Z-Moves have different BP depending on what base move you use with it. So a regular Electric Z-Move used with Thunder will be way stronger than A-Raichu's Z-Move. The Pokemon-specific Z-Moves have set BPs since they're triggered using specific moves.

Well, I had repels going non-stop, and I avoided nearly every trainer in the game.

So that 6 hours was divided between the mandatory battles, moving from place to place, and mashing through cutscenes.

All the battles were over in a few turns because I was overleveled, and I used stoutland as much as possible while moving around.

So yeah, a lot of it was cutscenes.

So pretty much, an Ultra Wormhole gets ripped open and Lunala gets sent to one version of our universe while Solgaleo is sent to the other. Eventually the the "union" or mating of the two beasts made an "heir" which would be Cosmog. So the male and female of a split evolution from another universe made a baby and left it in the Tapu's care.

Earliest Dusk Stone I know of is Malie City Community Center on the third island. It's next to the library and the boy in the back room sells one. Not sure what the trigger is, but someone told me you need to have a Dusk Stone evolver on your team.

You can fight Ilima, Lana, and Kiawe/Mallow after beating their respective Kahunas. Kiawe and Mallow are version exclusive. Sophocles is a champion challenger, and fairy girl is a fight somewhere.
Elite 4 update their teams to 63 postgame. Pokemon stay the same, but some of their movesets are changed.

What is the effect of being in the portal world?

I'm guessing the encounter tables are flipped due to the time difference - basically it's an easy way to get the daytime pokemon at night and vice versa.

Any other effects?

Should note that upgrades give different amounts in EVs.
First Island gives 1, Second islands give 2, and third island nets 4 per session.

If you accidentally kill a Tapu can you fight them again tomorrow? And I'm guessing they're at 3% Legendary Catch Rate.

I want to get all the Tapus but one I don't know want to use my Master Ball and two they keep breaking out even if put them to sleep and I use a Dusk Ball or an Ultra Ball. Tips?
