Yeah, but an ability that changes priority seems a lot more niche than fire types not burning or rock types getting a defense boost in a sand storm. It also seems like a bit too much of a hard counter to me. If they just lost priority they would still be able to function despite there being a hidden mechanic.

This is definitely different from those. Those have an immediate effect upon encountering a specific move.

This has an effect based on a specific ABILITY and THEN negates the move entirely. It's a whole new class of immunity.

I don't have a perfect grasp of the meta, but a quick check on smogon only has one prankster in OU. Aside from that faggot genie I know that Whimsicott and Klefki can both carry their weight, and sableye can use it before mega-evolving, but seized control of the meta seems a bit extreme

The problem with DV has always been Smeargle using it.

They made Smeargle unable to learn it, problem solved. What's the damn point of the acc nerf? It's fucking overkill. Same damn situation as Talonflame. They put a ton of things to counter priority but then also completely murder Gale Wings to borderline uselessness.

Drakrai is not even allowed in VGC. It's a fucking mythical. So what's even the damn purpose of the acc nerf?

I'm amazed that Gamefreak on top of making broken shit like Mega Mom and Mega Mence also has been proven itself completely unable to not realize the difference between a nerf and making something useless. They are shit at both sides at the spectrum. Fucking hell man.

This makes no FUCKING sense at all. I would understand if Prankster didn't activate against Dark types, but outright making the opponent IMMUNE to the attack itself is fucking DUMB. Why are Rattatas suddenly immune to electricity just because it's a Prankster that's throwing the attack? And there's literally no way to NOT use Prankster, so Pokémon with this ability are now ALL garbage tier with now way to fix them. Thanks Ganefreak, you fucking morons. Don't try to fix things that aren't broken.

If you can read Japanese there are team reports out there from pretty much every player who ever topped the ladder during gen 6, and you'll see just how diverse their teams actually were.

Worlds is one single tournament, one snapshot of the metagame. Pre-worlds 2015, the VGC meta was all over the place. It was actually, incredibly, stupidly diverse. Basically, it worked the way that a metagame should: one strategy emerges as dominant, other strategies rise to counter it, still other strategies come to counter them, ad infinitum.

I've only come up against Darkrai in battlespot doubles and only during the beginning of XY, and I will say that it was really good if the player was smart enough to protect it. Usually I assume it was kids playing it, because they would just lead with it and let it get disrupted and killed.

We'll have to wait and see how this plays out in practice of course, but I actually like this change. Gives Dark types a special niche that makes sense thematically.

I get the feeling they're going through and giving every type that doesn't already have a special bonus one these days, like Elec getting paralysis immunity in Gen 6. Hopefully Bug gets something nice sometime.

Prankster is a huge part of why its so good. Priority thunder waves, breh.

Bisharp and Weavile are now a straight counter to it. Things like Hydreigon, M-Gyara can either outspeed (Choice Scarf on Hydreigon or DD on M-Gyara) and KO, or tank through its offense and KO. M-Houndoom, after the Mega buff and immunity naturally outspeeds. Not sure if it nets an OHKO, likely misses it, but that's still damn nice.

Klefki also gets straight fucked by Bisharp and Hydreigon. Pre-Mega Sableye gets countered by these 2 and Tyranitar as well.

Maybe. Having access to Thunderwave, even if it's slow, is better than no Thunderwave at all. In that scenario, that stops Bisharp from getting effectively a free kill on it, but the other still do pressure it greatly.

So to answer your question, no. Most of them use their Psychic STAB.

Ironically, most of the ones that don't use Psychic moves very often don't actually have a different STAB to abuse.

Also (Mega) Alakazam spent quite some time in ORAS OU and you know that Spoonbender used Psychic moves.
