He's not wrong. Years ago you'd hear people saying we could never land on the moon whilst scientists were saying otherwise. You'll hear dumb opinions all the time, and the fact is they're less relevant than the opinion coming from somebody that is more familiar with the subject they're talking about. So much so that one opinion may as well be considered wrong. Granted, it's not black and white, right or wrong, but there's such a great deal of variety there that one will be more acceptable than the other.

For example, "I think Sun and Moon are the worst games in the franchise because they made my favorite Pokémon Clefable bad again by nerfing Unaware." The opinion that SM are bad is invalidated because Unaware was never actually nerfed and that person never went to fact check something they heard, instead choosing to parrot what someone else said.
