>>29999064S2M2 will be released for 3DS and it will have no lag and will be the best third version even if /vp/ still hates it.
Gen 8 will launch on Switch and will feature all the regions with no new pokemon and be open world with no loading screens. It will sell decently but the games themselves will be lackluster since they will be just the foundation for the next few games. Gen 9 will also be on the switch and use Gen 8 as it's foundation. There is a huge falling out and while the game is still popular it will be "soulless", "not real pokemon", and "real hardcore pokemon fans" will abandon the games and just play roms of "the golden gens of pokemon". The main criticism will be that pokemon is a portable franchise and the switch is not a "real portable".
My magic does not let me see after gen 9. Too many variable. The switch could flop. The game could sell enough where nintendo can ignore the "hardcore" players with online rivaling DOTA-style games. I know pokemon will continue to print money after gen 10. I just don't know whether it remain true to the original and give a portable experience or continue to change and evolve.
Gen 8: 2020
Gen 9: 2024
Gen 10: 2030
That's pretty far out into the future. I doubt it would be recognizable to us today. I'm just happy I like pokemon now and that I got to live through the beginning of pokemon.
