You can tell the writers had ton of fun making this game. (I mean read the pokedex entries for starters)
It fits the theme that Alola is basically a real laid-back Hawaii-like place.
So even your villains are pretty laid back too.
That's why Lusamine is so dangerous. She actually has motivation to cause shit to go down. She's like a JRPG madman villain that's totally out of place in such a chill place.
Like if someone dropped Kefka into Doshin the Giant.
