Considering they haven't made a single good design after gen 4, I am more than ok with no more new pokemon.

They need to focus on improving the ones we already have, and if anything, remove some of the garbage from gens 5 and 7.

They can stop once they hit 1000. And to compensate for the fact that there'll be way too many Pokémon for most people to settle on a single team composition, they'll introduce a gimmick where you can have a 7th Pokémon which doesn't participate in-battle but modifies the field and/or stats for the rest of your team.

Maybe even a gimmick where you can pair each Pokémon in your party with another for a total of 12, and can switch between either outside of battle.

I want this or next gen to last for a longer perio of time and give updates to several gens, and then the gen directly after to introduce an enormous amount of new Pokémon - 190 or something like that. It will never happen, but it would be incredibly hype to have pre-release announce 90 or so Pokémon and then have another 100 or so to find on one's own.
