HGSS when you do a Nuzlocke and use the Trainer ID method to pick your starter. If you end up with Chikorita, you might as well just restart immediately.

HGSS isn't that hard, it's just grind heavy.

I think Platinum is the hardest main game, especially to Nuzlocke. That said, I haven't played SM yet because it's not out until the 23rd here.

No, Sun/Moon isn't the most difficult because a boss fight every couple of hours gives you a challenge. I'll remind you that any and all trainers are still a stupid joke carrying one Pokemon.
