Dane here, would be sweet. Nips probably don't have a single clue what it's like here, so results could vary. I'm not against including the rest of Scandinavia though, seems like the German/Danish border would be the ideal starting town, and the league could be somewhere in Norway after crossing Sweden. Denmark doesn't have the slightest hint of a mountain, so we'd be starved for ice types. Add a desert area to Sweden, too. They'd feel right at home.

Starters are a grass horse, a fire horse and a water horse, all the "towns" are nomadic tent settlements and move around with the seasons, there's a huge ass desert in the middle where you get stalked by Cacturne, instead of gyms you need to prove your worth to the leaders of various clans, Pokemon League is actually just a raid on Europe with Champion Genghis and Elite Four members Jebe, Jelme, Kublai and Subutai.

Mostly because Denmark doesn't have so many obvious well-known landmarks. They wouldn't have much to work with so they would have to add their own original things, like in the 4 first regions.

I honestly hate how pokemon regions are now so obviously based on real world regions. And it's not even good representations. You can pretty much trace back the entire trip that Game Freak's team took when they visited hawaii for inspiration. And it makes the games feel like you're on a guided tour instead of exploring on your own. Same was true with Kalos.

It left much more place for creativity before.

Not opposed but I'd bet money it won't happen within two decades (if Pokemon remains popular and only GF develops mainline games). You could do a Russia themed region which would have areas of very similar climate and has much more to do (but due to politics and shit I don't think GF would do Russia anytime soon).

A general Scandinavia is probably the closest GF would get. Maybe a Denmark style post game region?

Jesus Christ we're talking about a Pokemon game, a region being politically charged wouldn't be an issue when we've had regions like that before. You didn't have to watch a twin tower expy fall down in Unova and you didn't have to manage a refuge crisis in Mexico. It's a well known region that certainly isn't bland and has a lot of culture to draw from and animals to base things off of you sperglord. They can idealize it.

And Mexican culture is liked, an idealized version would be liked, it's not just complete hate for the place and even now people vacation to Cancun and shit. Like I said best place would be Texas with Mexican culture but Mexico ain't shabby. Also being that I've been to Mexico yeah there's a lot of mestizo but it's not strictly homogenous. You have white people, black people, all who live there and aren't just visiting. Even some Asians. Town that's all about wind energy

Lots of possibilities for Pokemon:

Two different snakes for the adder and viper - our only two snakes
Cow and especially pig is obligatory
A wolf legendary - Wolves has begun appearing after being extinct
Stag Beetle legendary - Sadly extinct now
Also nisser, trolls, jætter, elves, lygtemænd and all the rest of Nordic mythology and folk lore.

I don't really know about landmarks:

Little Mermaid of course
Perhaps some dolmen or other ancient remains.
Excavated viking village.

They could make it work if they really wanted.
