Why is the music in this game so bad? I don't mind the Hawaiian-tinged music, its the melody that is awful. The worst offender is the battle music itself since that's what you'll be hearing most.

I haven't heard every track in the game, but having heard the mascot legendary's theme after it was leaked, I was actually pretty disappointed in it. I have a feeling that when I get to that part of the game, It'll make more sense, the way the strong is constructed, but as it stands I'd actually call it the worst legendary theme out there.

The Team Skull themes are pretty good but otherwise the music in this game is just adequate. Not bad, but nothing that you won't forget. And unfortunately i feel like this is true for all Pokemon titles, this series doesn't have the amazing music other Japanese RPGs are known for.

I can still remember the every piece of music of Gen 1 and 2. I bet you can remember Lavender Town and the Champion music for example, being the two most renowned pieces.

But that's really just because 8 bit music is easy to remember because it's not usually very complicated. Gen 1 and 2's music is memorable, but it isn't really anything I'd write home about, because it's simple.

The Elite Four theme is awful though. I don't dislike Gen 7 music but holy hell, that particular track is fucking awful and completely unsuited to be an Elite Four battle theme.

I personally thought the E4 music was great and fitting. Shit's chaotic, which suits the mood for battling what is considered the hardest trainers.
