Or they modelled them irrespective of thier size last gen and just transferred the models to this gen.

As much as I would've loved to see to pokemon and trainers to scale I knew that wouldn't happen, and anyone who thought it genuinely would is just being naive.

Yeah but Orre didn't really give you any big pokemon besides Lugia and Ho-Oh who were post game only and only one guy in each game used a wailord. Also there were less than half of the current pokemon available in them

Larger models means zooming out. Zooming out means all models will be on screen at the same time, pretty much all the time.
Think about all the times your framerate went up because it zoomed in on one Pokemon performing an attack, only to drop back down when all 6+ models reappeared on screen.
