Scolipede, Venasaur, Roserade, Crobat, and Amoongus have all seen various stages of comp play over the years.
Gen 2 introducing Dark and Gen 6 introducing fairy were both stealth buffs for Poison.
The only reason poison types went on every team since gen 1 is due to the shittyness of grass mons. If grass had been a better type then poison by nature would have seen more play. Adding in Fairy has helped it immensely.
