Play it. It's better than DP by far. At this point they're likely to make the remakes fucking casual and ruin the original games. Plus nothing like the original experience, so you're better off playing a game that is confirmed to be along the best ones instead of waiting for something that is going to be mediocre at best.

Yeah, nah. Gen 4 in general is held back by its shitty, slow engine, and Sinnoh in general is a haphazard region with an incredibly shit dex even after Platinum's upgrades.

To be perfectly honest I would gladly exchange HGSS for the complete and utter annihilation of everything in Gen 4.

Trolling aside, what's so great about it? I remember playing it when I was in high school and I didn't find it particularly impressive. The story was mediocre, the rival was semi annoying, the mons were decent and the region was comfy but pretty boring. It was just another typical pokemon game.

If it means anything, I generally consider GS/RS/DP to be pointless and inferior when you could be playing the third versions. Unless you care about legit pokédex completion I guess

The Dex needed fixing but everything else was fixed in Plat. Sinnoh felt like a grander adventure than most regions thanks to the haphazardness you mentioned.

I'm torn on this because from a mechanical standpoint Platinum was the best the series was or will ever be but as a whole I enjoyed the experience of Black/White more. The music was the best it's ever been, the plot was pretty well done and felt like something out of Pokemon Special with some really good characterization, the best protag designs, and the region lock really endears you to the new mons and Unova as a whole.

Agreed! Honesty everyone just needs to get over DPs problems and focus on how much Platinum improved on those. And besides, DP was the first opening game on the D.S and introduced a bunch of important features. Of course it was going to have problems.

HGSS have two under-cooked regions thrown together. Bad plot, even for Pokemon standards and absolutely SHIT pacing. That being said, they are still top tier games, but I would argue Platinum is superior.
