is there some "knowledge" of who is canon in which version? like are is moon the boy or girl and who is the right starter for him/her?

same question for sun

Girl is canon for moon for sure. Not only is Lingala female according to its pokedex entry, but the moon has been associated with women for hundreds of years.

And I'd say the canon starter for either boy or girl is Rowlett, because the champ uses the starter strong against yours, and I really can't see him using anything other than Inciniroar

The correct starter would be what forces Kukui to have his canon starter, since he's the only NPC who remains post-game that has a pokemon dependent on what you chose.
