Is anyone going through postgame just feeling depressed? It just makes me feel sad not being able to see Lillie again. Sometimes I just go lay in her old bed and cry.

the post game in S/M reminds me of how I felt during the postgame in X/Y.

X/Y's felt abysmal and had nothing to do.
S/M's was eclipsed by that emotional ending to the point where it felt abysmal.

They should really have some antagonists post game. Faba should led sa splinter Aether faction and unleash other ultrabeasts on each islands and you have to stop them, with the UBs being the final fight of each islands. Better than Looker and Anabel telling you "go to this location, catch the beast in random encounter".

He'll tell you to go find and battle people who used eeveelutions 30 years ago or so and gives you vague hints of where to find these people. Of course, since it's been 30 years... time changes a lot of things.

They really raised the bar on S/M, yea. Having a good engaging story that is able to connect emotionally to it's players is rare though. I guess what I am trying to say is, while Gamefreak sure can try, it's really hard to write deep engaging stories like this every game, every generation.

She may not be there at the moment, but it's reasonable to assume that she's going to go back to Alola after adventuring around Kanto and probably Johto for a little while.
Granted, we'll probably never see any of that happen, but it's a reasonable head canon to have.

But I doubt we'll ever see that. I think Lillie might be the only friend we see in future games, but not connected with S/M's protagonist of course.
