So why hasn't GameFreak made double battles the standard for in-game battles? They're clearly balancing the game around the Doubles format, and their tournaments are all Doubles. Why are we still battling NPC trainers in single battles 98% of the time?

I mean, I know they're not made by GF but Colosseum and Gale of Darkness got by with doing it just fine.
