The entire Golf area subplot was cut from the game along with the area itself.

Literally every E4 member in the prior games was non-existent outside of the League so I didn't mind. Was nice to see a fresh face rather than the entire thing just be rematches with people I met/beat already.

Guzma's house was meant to be owned by a family who ran a golf course. This is why 2chan believes she's Guzma's older sister but the whole thing was scrapped from the final version.

Yes, exactly. It makes her unique. It was supposed to be Nanu but he turned it down so they called back one of their best Island Challenge Champions, who was away during the events of the game being a famous golfer, to fill the position and she gladly accepted.

The contrast she creates being a fresh face is nice.

like all the way up

and then his sister come home and is like "omg" and he's like "reeeee" and he's kicked out of the house so he start an evil group

then he find out plumeria like sticking entire golf clubs in her ass too, and other people start turning up and that's how we got team skull, it's actually short for team skullfuck but when game freak entered that in, their own censors wouldn't let them

Similar thing happens in Gen V. You see all Elite 4 members outside of the league, except for Grimsley. No one complained then.

Does anyone else feel that people are reading way too much into the clubs in Guzma's house? It feels like he got fed up with (life event) and just grabbed the nearest items (clubs) to start bashing things randomly. Considering his chair at the mansion mentions fist imprints, not to mention all his dialogue of smashing shit, this seems like a fare more likely outcome

It's weird. In previous gens, we were so used to the E4 being randos we'd never met that never do anything that we never quesioned it. Now that we got 3/4 that were important beforehand, the fact that Golf Girl is like the E4 members of other regions is jarring to us.

It is heavily implied in the Japanese version. It's not uncommon for localization team to change the meaning. In German's version his father challenged him to Pokemon battle. German is pretty anal about violence in children games, so it's no wonder if it got neutered.

The golf course is really weird though. Things like Kalos' Power Plant or the Rhyhorn race track on Route 22 can still be seen as background decoration. Same for the upper part of Brooklet Hill or the Geothermal Power Station in Alola. You can't access them, but they're there in the background.

But the gold course is a huge part of the map that you can't even LOOK at.

BW is worse than SM in that regard.
Hala, Olivia and Acerola are very prominent in the game, and Kahili is mentioned and foreshadowed several times.
Marshall was the only one with a proper role outside the E4 in BW, Shauntal and Caitlin can only randomly appear in Cynthia's villa from time to time. Grimsley doesn't appear outside the league at all and if you count the Battle Tree as a proper encounter you meet him more often in SM than in BW.
