The Anabel of S&M is really a creation of a then-unknown UB after it absorbed the Anabel of the Megaverse, who was training to become the first Battle Frontier leader. It "remembers" the basic memory makeup of its absorbee, from name to Battle Frontier connection but it's mainly an amnesiac blank slate, being a new life form. The UBs trace the "Fallers" because they remember the scent of the creature, a natural predator, and attack the creature upon scent for self-preservation.
