So I'm trying to catch the ultra beasts. Currently I'm trying to catch the mosquito one. I accidentally killed it so I soft reset to try and catch it again, but when I run around in the grass, not showing up. Is this supposed to happen? Am I supposed to just keep running in the tall grass through all of these normal Pokemon encounters until I get lucky? Or am I supposed to get the ultra beast encounter first time?

Correct. However, that only really matters if you actually want to put the time into it/need to breed extra.

If you just want to battle with it, the only things you need to pay attention to now are Nature, egg moves, and maybe Hidden Power if you need it.

About UBs;

Do they have high IVs normally? Or are they subject to the same horrible RNG that may or may not end in low IVs for 100+ resets?
Are they susceptible to Synchronize? Or are their natures random no matter what?
If you soft reset, do they change stats, natures, and so on? Or are they locked the moment you begin the hunt?

You can either use them in the boxes on the islands, or use it to raise the affection of your pokemon by 2-3 hearts instantly.

I use them for affection, personally. Boosted exp and nice benefits when not playing with competitive autists.

I had a level 1 Popplio and level 1 Rowlett, both obtained through wonder trade. I leveled both via EXP share on an enemy that gave 1000~ exp. Both evolved, but Brionne was one level behind Dartrix. Why would they get different amounts of exp?

For question 1, there are ev-reducing berries. You could also get a Friendship Parlor/ Cafe in Festival Plaza, they have drinks that reduce EVs. I think a 5* Parlor sells drinks that reduces EVs directly to 0.

I'm currently grinding Poni Valley or whatever for Lycanroc and Boldore, destroying them with a Trevenant that knows Horn Leech. I'm trying to grind up low level pokemon for pokedex reasons, but I feel like this place isn't the best spot. Is there a better spot that I can mindlessly grind up these low level mons quickly? The E4 mountain gives shit for exp, and Exeggutor Island has so few Exeggutors that it's not easy to grind.

I take it it doesn't make your game behave EXACTLY like Sun (if you have Moon), e.g. you can still only battle Mallow, not Kiawe.
