How is this thing going to evolve in future games? They've only ever retconned an evolution once, and that was milotic. Do you think it will remain version dependent in every pair of games from now on?

I doubt they'd do it, but I hope they do some sort of 3rd form for Stars, would be a neat form addition to the later game(s) of Gen 7
