and on top of that has an evolution method so obtuse that you can literally permanently ruin your feebas and prevent it from being able to evolve in R/S by not feeding it good enough pokeblocks.

160 defense stat when you're fighting against lvl 8-18 gyms where the first three are all physical attackers is nothing to scoff at, Onix is probably the best pokemon to use for all three of those gyms

At least the regis had some tips in the instruction manual (telling you what braille is for example), I never saw anything in game or in the manual that had info on evolving Feebas, and it's the only pokemon that ever evolved by contest stats.

It's six tiles determined when you start the game or change the Dewford phrase. Sinnoh was far worse, it was only four tiles that changed daily, so you couldn't just go back to the tile later to get more.

But this is somewhat true. There was a glitch that you could afflict multiple non-volatile statuses to Pokemon. The only thing is the "couldn't do anything" is quite accurate, you'd have to account for the inaction from both Confusion and Paralysis, but Sleep would just do it better.

I had a much harder time nabbing Vespiqueen than I did getting Snorlax. It's still a bitch of a time actually getting Munchlax, but at least you don't have to worry about having to also get the right gender. Nothing is more disappointing than seeing the silhouette for Combee after hours of fucking with honey trees only to see that its male. GTS makes the whole issue irrelevant however.
