Gen VII is the gen of patterns being BTFO, Ash is even going to catch Vikavolt, even though he has had a previous pattern of "never catching other electric types because Pikachu"

No, it was dedicated to showing him taking care of a Rowlet who had been adopted by a Toucannon and Toucannon giving its blessing for Rowlet to go along with Ash. That doesn't mean jack shit about Pikipek.

Also, wasn't Gen 6 supposed to be the gen of patterns getting broken? You know, until he lost the league again?
