Hidden Ability and shiny seem to be just random.
A generally good mon would be parasect. Easy to get, false swipe, spore, some hard hitting move and you are good to go.
Smeargle is also good, but takes a while to set up. But if you give it recover and recycle and a leppa berry you need no other recovery items for a chain.
It also depends on what you want to chain. If you wanna catch ghost mons you need a different setup to make sure you can hit them with false swipe.
If you generally need a walkthrough:
>get mon to near death(false swipe it to 1 HP)>use adrenaline orb>wait until second mon appears(waste turns by using adrenaline orbs, it won't use it up but still waste a turn)>kill second monalso
>kill the original every 20 or so turns so it doesn't run out of pp and struggle to death>make sure the mon that's left on the field is the same type you started the chain with, or it breaks>>30296966kill it, refight it after the credits.
