>>30292157I think that there are some massive discrepancies that make VGC less experimental than Smogon tiers and whatnot...
>In a simulator, priming a competitively viable Pokemon takes 5 seconds. However, in-game, the dedicated necessary to prime a VGC team takes much longer. Experimenting takes longer. Even if not by too much, it's still a while. There's a lot of people who won't even consider Power Saves, let alone PKHeX.
>In VGC, there's a lot more at stake.In-game, and for VGC, you can rather risk cheating (not that they can really detect it if it's a legal build), or you risk your placement/points by experimenting in official matches or by wasting time experiment on the side. In general, I can only imagine it's not worth anybody's time to experiment in VGC. There's no reward besides personal satisfaction for playing anything other than VGC, unless I'm terribly mistaken, which I might be...
I really have no preference. I'm working on a VGC Sandstorm team once I can transfer over some non-Alola 'mons, but Smogon tiers are fun too. I just don't think it's fair to compare them, but as far as legitimacy goes, VGC has the upper-hand. Doesn't matter how many more people play it.
