Prediction and reads originally was the term "podracing". Why it became podracing is probably because one person used it and then followed everyone else. Plus it sounds somewhat similar to "prediction"
Then people started using "predonk" or "predonkadonk" and other variants. More similar to "prediction" but the prefix is somewhat awkward
Finally you have the now commonly stated "donk" without the prefix. It's basically a closed mini-simulation of how languages evolve over time if you think about it
