the movepool is good but the stats aren't good enough to work with them, especially since it can't hold an item (unless you go with normal silvally, in which case you're probably outclassed)

Always hated gimmicky abilities. I wish it had the same boost As Arceus and kept the 1.2 boost when holding a specific memory drive. If only Silvally got E-Speed too...

Ability gimmicks ruin lots of Pokémon, I wish Zygarde's Complete form was permanent and not tied to a gimmicky zen mode ability and kept Aura Break

I was legitimately expecting something that was meant to be aggressive, I.e. high offenses and high speed, but average defenses, where type:null would've been the opposite, but the health stayed the same
But all isn't bad for the poor adorable monstrosity as it has a niche being what ever type you want, plus a better version of most standard physical moves and great abusability of choice items
So it's definitely not bad, but we were expecting something more offensive and living up to its description

I haven't really been keeping up in Gen 7 competitive play, but how exactly is Silvally amazing? I mean, it's not BAD in any sense, but it's just kinda... alright. Certainly doesn't seem like it's on the same level as legendary pokemon.

Over all it's just kinda... alright. There's nothing interesting about it, it's just an average version of Arceus..

I dont like a lot of the ground types in this gen aesthetically so i'll go with ground silvally for my team, still debating whether I go sleeptalk, attack or special attack

That's how it is, more or less.
On the Special side, it could be a thing if it got Calm Mind or Nasty Plot.

Physically, it gets Swords Dance and Explosion, but no Extremespeed and needing to use Ele Fangs for coverage (No Stone Edge/EQ) sucks.

Memories not even giving it a 10% boost also sucks. Lack of any form of recovery beyond ResTalk sucks. If any of the above is rectified, I could see it getting a lot more use.

Right now, its only got decent bulk and a surprise factor, all with an average-ish movepool.

Ugh... no. Type Null was named "Type Full" when was created but its RKS System didn't work, so was renamed and confined in that helmet. When Type Null fully trusts Gladion evolves in a new pokemon whose biological system accept the RKS System and break the helmet. That pokemon is a "totally new" specie, so Gladion is who gives its name, "Silvally", his "silver ally".
Silvally is a Type Null that works properly ("Type Full").

Silvally can't really hit hard without STAB Explosion/200BP Breakneck Blitz or SD. If I had to make a Ground Silvally set for that team I think I'd go with Toxic+Parting Shot with Ground Multi-Attack to hit Steel and Poison types.

Silvally is a naturally evolution of Type: Null trusting its trainer enough to cycle through the types, but it still can't use them all like it was literally designed to do.

It was designed to be Arceus 2.0, and even Arceus had to held items to change between types.
Only reason they scrapped the project was because Type: Full went berserk all the time, but it still did what it was supposed to do. Silvally is literally Type: Full just calmed down.

For fun, the bottom half is for inverse battles. Except I missed a 0 and the fighting modifier should be 2.

I've got Jolly with 252 Attack and Speed EV's, I think the rest went to HP, not sure. Fairy Memory, Multi-Attack, Iron Head, Parting Shot, Swords Dance. It's so-so.

Work Up (Z Work Up)
Flamethrower
Tri-Attack/Multi Attack/Double Edge
Explosion/Crunch/Draco Meteor(?)

Not sure how well it'd work. STAB DE after the boost should be decently hard hitting, but Multi-Attack can probably work if recoil is too much of an issue. Tri-Attack gives you a special Normal Attack, but its not as powerful as the other skills.

Flamethrower gives you a surprise for Steel Types who think they can wall your normal attacks.

Explosion for an all out Nuke is useful, especially when boosted, as is Draco Meteor if you've removed Steel Types. Crunch keeps Ghosts from walling you

Normalium Z gives you the chance to use Z Work Up to set up, or if you're running explosion, two normal type nukes by blowing the Z move on Explosion and exploding afterwards.
