Easy mode because it's a starter, but while I consider the Hoenn trio as one of the very best, picking anything but Mudkip always feels wrong in that region. It's also my favorite Pokemon.

I doubt it can, at least not the way it used to be. Hail is definitely better than one gen ago, but it's never going back to the way it was. Walrein can't do the leftover+ice body protect/substitute spam without infinite hail

In my competitive teams I always make room for Lanturn and Porygon-Z. Needless to say it's always more karenfag than competitive, but I've usually managed to make good use of them. Porygon-Z's buff is much welcomed, I'm looking forward to preparing one for Battle Spot use. Lanturn hasn't gained anything this generation outside maybe Z-Heal Bell, but it's gained some stuff it can somewhat check like Tapu Koko, Mantine and Pelliper at the cost of losing Bravest Bird as a free kill.
