I've been soft resetting him for 3 days now, still nothing.

Every source I check says it's still the same though. Regardless, breeding is still better odds. You can at least guarantee a good nature and such that way too

That's the normal shiny rate. It was reduced to 4000~ since Gen 6. Masuda method improves those odds still.

OP why the hell are you shiny hunting like an autist? encounter the damn thing, and use the SOS strategy and you'll get a shiny in about an hour or so.
