I have enough money to buy 2 3DS games but i'm not sure if i want SM.
First and last Pokemon game i played was Platinum but seeing all the hype in /vp/ and /v/ is making me kind of want to play SM but at the same time i don't want to spend 39$ in something i'll drop once i finish the main storyline.

i generally buy both copies of pokemon games and do both.

sun and moon is an interesting experience. it deviates from the pokemon experience quite a bit and becomes much more interesting and engaging. the difficulty level is noticeably increased as well. some of the new mechanics are good, with the replacement of hms freeing up your team possibilities a lot.

the biggest downside to the games would be the pacing. the cutscenes are annoying and needed to be drastically reduced, especially at the very beginning and end of the game. the characters are actually good though and the plot is well done.

The problem is i will play the game using all the Pokemon i like. I won't use only one team in my first play but more. So if i play the story mode for a second time it will be like doing exactly the same thing all over again and that its boring

pokemon post game is competitive 40$ for a 60hr campaign isn't much lol, also the game is more difficult without xp share, and the region is nice to explore.
so even if you only play the story its worth

well there is some plot stuff even after you beat the game. i've seen most people quote the game length at around 30hrs but if you aren't rushing i think the total is more like 40. that's just a dollar and hour. pokemon games have decent resale value too. you can probably get at least half of what you paid for it post market.

It's more fun than the last gen, but pales in comparison to gen 5. Buy Black 2 instead. You can probably get a used copy at GameStop for the same price as a new copy of SM.

Then you probably shouldn't get it. It's one of those games where you know you're going to play it or you're not.

I've played every single Pokemon game except B/W2 and I can honestly say Platinum was better. SuMo is good because it's newer and has improvements over X/Y, but for both the in-game story and the competitive metagame for the generation, I prefer Platinum.
