>>30337554>Yokai WatchCan we discuss this for a second? I've played the first one, although I didn't complete it and I'd like to see the thoughts of other anons.
- I got to chapter 10 and dropped it because nothing was happening (20 hours? 40? I can't remember). I remember the fox thing being important, but it showed up in like chapter 5 and then I never saw it again. I can't remember the story at all.
- The capture rates are so abysmal, I stopped bothering after a while - this became crippling as the game went on. "Oh boy, a blue version of a Yokai I caught before under a car that's gonna cost me hundreds of yens worth of candies/drinks etc that I have a 0.0001% chance to catch"
- If you see a cool/rare Yokai, there is no way you are capturing it on the first try. You have *ONE* chance to catch a Yokai in a battle. After that, it's gone. Some of these are incredibly rare, so this got frustrating.
- Boring environments (a town, a sewer, a forest).
- Hit and miss designs. I like the red cat mascot, but there's now 20 versions of him. A lot of the Yokai are very Japanese, and I'm not talking about Kappas and common things like that. I mean like, the ugly old-dude Yokai that are apparently very endearing to the Japanse, but just looked repulsive to me. I don't really care about waifumons, but there are no cool dragon/mythical designs that I really remember (except the cute dragon you get way later in the game, I never got him). Probably a personal preference, but I found most Yokai unattractive to me. I liked some of the salamander ones, and I liked the bad-boy one with the pompadour.
- How this was going to beat Pokemon, I don't know. It had no advertising in my country, and most people just think it looks bizarre.
Anyway, those are my thoughts.
